One Piece season 2 We assess the situation quietly but with spoilers

Just like Rome, One Piece never took place in a day (except for one that went fishing) and Season 2 of the Netflix live-action adaptation is even more realistic. If you've read our review, you know we appreciate all the effort and goodwill. However, some elements we fear.He takes liberties here and there.Obviously, if you haven't watched the 8 episodes of this season 2, stop there.

They get a piece.

Before the hostilities begin, it's worth remembering one thing: every change the series has made has been carefully validated, or at least not canceled, by Oda who oversees from afar, so you don't talk too much about it with your baby.

Therefore, it's relevant that the series knows it's never going to tell the entire story - even in the manga, we're starting to doubt it - and makes some shortcuts in the form of a wink to the fans. From the first episode we enjoy seeing Bartolomeo, whose presence in Logue City we later learn about in the original work.

Not only does the show manage to include the character in the plot, in a relatively active role, but without making it so dominant that its absence is noticeable in the sequel. And that's a good thing, there's little chance that the series will last until the (re)showing arc.The same story for the silhouette seen behind the Dragon, a One Piece fan will instantly recognize.

Sanji's mother, Luffy, mentioning Dadan... the series has enjoyed many story elements, such as the reward, that would be unenviable in Oda's story. At this point, it's difficult to say whether One Piece will allow itself to explain these same elements in a more concise way in the future, thus justifying its "adaptation" status.Or will it allow them to float in the air of a universe for which we will never have all the keys, but which will continue to be a successful login?

In any case, we can applaud this season 2 for being able to weave five story arcs into just eight episodes, and it's a testament to its willingness to go as far as possible with these flesh-and-blood Mugiwaras. We wonder if Season 3 will focus solely on Alabaster, or even have half a season to deal with another plot.

The One Piece series has always been distinguished by its commitment to adaptation. This is expressed in the desire not to miss big, anticipated moments.Yes, there are shortcuts, but the showrunners will never dare to touch Chopper's flashback, which preserves the smallest particles of emotion put on paper. On the contrary, it can be said that the series adds some feelings to the side, especially in the relationship between the characters throughout season 2. The relationship between the body has never been "real".

They went to Doli Riversi

However, once you reach cruising speed, you should not sink.Especially at the level of the same emotions.Oda said: There are no romantic relationships between the crew members in the manga. The producers of the series confirmed at the time: There are no romantic relationships between the crew of the series. However, Sanji's charming demeanor has a tendency to flirt with the danger of feeling love for his traveler.

Exchange of glances, words, intentions... The cook has always been very attentive to the female gender with a little Prince Charming side, but we have an uneasy feeling that the show is playing with the line.We feel that Nami's illness is an opportunity to create the beginning of a story between the two, where she doesn't have the same relationship with the other Hankamas and Sanji has almost no interaction with Vivi.

Nami is the character that was the most disturbing from the live adaptation. She is more combative (and a fighter), less afraid, she reacts less violently to the nonsense of her peers... In the manga, Nami's rage scares all the Mogiwars. Here, Emily Rudd's performance is smoother, less extravagant. It almost lacks the "One Piece madness".

We already said it in our review, but paradoxically, too much fidelity can also be a hindrance, at least for those who are not familiar with the Oda universe. In a live adaptation there are many things that are fake, in the costumes, in the settings, in the facial expressions of some actors... So many elements that could be reduced, or even eliminated, without it affecting the character of the character.

I know this may contradict what I said above about Nami, but I can stick with Nami without the red wig because I feel this is a flaw in her personality and relationships with others. There's a difference between embodying a character and being like a character. This is our sole responsibility. And Iñaki Godoy may be someone who sometimes repeats himself by doing too much of one thing and not enough of the other.

Here's the dark side of One Piece Season 2 that might dampen our excitement. But this is not enough to dampen our desire to see the series move forward with more heart and passion than before. We nitpick because we know he can do better, but we're still fans.
